APPAREL REVIEW:

Lost Control presents
Devotion 2 The Ocean
[Lost Control]

A few minutes after pressing play to this amazing album and it is already quite clear how special this new auditive adventure is going to be. A brilliant collection of tracks by artists from all over the world, from Detroit to Berlin, from London to France, the multicultural presence of the various artists that make up this compilation translates the message of love for the water world and for the good cause which is translated into bars and beats.

The Lost Control label in fact launches ‘Love For The Ocean’, a selection putting great focus on the smallest sonic details which features, in addition to numerous musical genres such as Electro, House, Techno, all expressed in the most "intellectual" and creative way, some prominent artistic intellighenzia such as, for instance, Dj Merci, Walt J, Lazercat, label owner Black Eyes and many more. An all-star line-up of greatly talented producers who donate their compositions for this album, out on December 1st 2023 and who also become ambassadors for a fundamental cause, crucial for the generation of people who inhabit today's world. I quote verbatim from the info provided by the label itself: "Lost Control is proud to present its first ever compilation, 'Devotion 2 The Ocean'. The name comes from the label's dedication to the deep hydro sounds and also the protection of future marine life; the latter being the reason this compilation came to the surface. A portion of the proceeds from the compilation will be going to the Marine Conservation Institute who specialize in protecting marine life and vast ocean areas for future generations of sea life”. This album is a many-sided one. One could cheekily describe it as amphibious…! It can be played in any situation, inside or outside the dance floor and its Deep soul and “abyssal” sound are the common threads holding all the tracks together, while maintaining its own internal rhythm which we could defined as Jazzy, improvised and irregular, but which, due to the quality of the tracks and the masterfully composed tracklist, flows effortlessly. From the sweet and silky initial harmonic digressions of Floating Tribes with The Aquatic People, to the most mysterious electro atmospheres created by the following Midnight Zone by Vincent Floyd; to the fat rhythms combined with the succession of satin chords by Dj Merci with Swell From Outer Sea. Walt J and his Underwater Highway, together with Lazercat with Cruise Over Nemo bring the sirens of Ulysses back to sing on more excited and frenetic rhythmics while the beat slows down on the aquatic journey of Under The Sea by Mad World Music. The underwater cruise steadily progresses with the broken beats of Reedal Rise which in Think Deeper takes us to unexplored depths, while with Abyssal by Sloppy J we reach the bottom of the ocean with its fatty flow and then start the ascent again with the clear, immaculate and aqueous sounds of Underwater by Module One and Ocean City by Black Eyes. The obvious peculiarity of the compilation are also the titles, all with an aquatic theme and the cover which depicts Poseidon, king of the seas, in a classic and statuesque pose looming over the listeners. A beautiful record assembled with great care and extreme dedication that you can purchase from the label or donate directly to the Marine Conservation Institute via the links below:
