APPAREL REVIEW:

Co-Pilot's - Green Machine LP

[New Interplanetary Melodies]

"Lately I’ve become quite picky when it comes to listening to new music: I can’t stand those trite sounds that pretend to be new but they’re just a corny reproduction of something already -and more successfully- done. Just as I was about to take another break from that list of albums I wanted to listen, I pressed play to CO-PILOT’s new LP called Green Machine. The eight-track album, to be released the next 15th of October on the Florentine imprint NewInterplanetaryMelodies, had me at ‘hello’. The whole record, from start to finish, is a refreshing sonic blast, with a strong and distinct percussive structure and full of details and influences reminding of many past or present artists but never falling into imitation, on the contrary, always keeping intact its producer’s sonic personality. As a drummer I can relate to CO-PILOT’s work and I can understand the importance of a substantial rhythmic foundation to lay every other sound on; well he surely succeeded in assembling a solid and cohesive yet, at times, even psychedelic and highly unpredictable record. From the hard-hitting vibrations of ‘Botanical Illustration Takes Patience And Skill’ and ‘Himawari’ to the more tribal and spacey ‘Halo’ and ‘Dancing Like Fela’, Green Machine LP is a beautiful display of its author’s talent and versatility, but also an explicit representation of his musical idea, that’s why we can call it a real Album, a true journey. A must listen."
