Kisk
Giuseppe D'Alessandro, aka Kisk, is an Italian DJ, artist, creative director and record label founder. Active in electronic music since 1996, he is the founder and owner of Apparel Music, the independent record label he established in 2009, and the founder and curator of Apparel Wax, the vinyl-focused imprint he launched in 2017. His creative practice spans music production, DJing, illustration, graphic design, art direction, A&R, project management and contemporary visual culture. Throughout his career, Kisk has explored a wide range of musical genres, from trip-hop, jungle and broken beat to Detroit house, deep house, swing and jazz. His musical vision is rooted in the dialogue between jazz and electronic music, a concept that has continuously shaped his artistic identity and the sound of his labels. Before founding Apparel Music, he developed several interdisciplinary projects connecting music, performance and contemporary art. Among them was Oneboy, a project combining live instrumentation with DJ sets. Together with writer and artist Tatiana Carelli, he also created Taji bpm and, in 2006, Discokit®, a sensory stimulation concept that brought club culture into artistic environments through more than 60 events over two years. His early discography includes releases and international collaborations with labels such as Multivitamins (UK), PRO-TEZ (Russia), The Dub (Italy) and Vibe Me Records (Spain). In 2009, Kisk independently founded Apparel Music, developing it into an international platform for house music, electronic music, visual art and creative experimentation.
Over the years, the label has collaborated with artists including SCSI-9, Lopazz, Ekkohaus, Emerson Todd, Yapacc, Delano Smith and Ivano Tetelepta, among many others. In 2015, he began collaborating with Italian DJ and producer Claudio Coccoluto, working as project manager for his label The Dub. In 2016, Kisk launched Quartet Series together with Nachtbraker, a vinyl project combining electronic music releases with original illustrated narratives. He subsequently co-founded Apparel Tronic with Ludovico Schilling, a separate imprint dedicated to electronica, downtempo and experimental electronic sounds. In 2017, Kisk founded Apparel Wax, an independent vinyl-focused imprint within the Apparel universe, built around an anonymous collective of producers. He remains its founder, creative director and curator. Beyond his record labels, Kisk has continued to develop the multidisciplinary identity of Apparel Music, connecting music with illustration, digital media, contemporary art and cultural storytelling through apparelmusic.com. He is also the creator and host of Apparel Show, a project exploring music, artistic expression and contemporary culture, previously presented through Radio Raheem at Triennale Milano.
