Swing Duke and his Deep Feeling EP

- Hi Maverik, how are you and how does it feel like releasing music on Apparel Music?

Hey Gius, I'm doing great and I'm extremely excited to be part of the Apparel Music family. I've been following the label for a while and it's an honor to be there with such prestigious names as Delano Smith, Sune or Mangabey (not to mention the other producers). I've only been truly composing for a little over a year now, and so to be at this stage after such a short time is encouraging and highly motivating for the future. I'm very grateful to have a release with Apparel Music.

- Talk us through the creative process behind the making of this EP. How did it come about and how did you work on it?

The creation of the EP had no specific plan, the tracks were conceived independently, although some sounds are similar. The creative process varied with each track, some music was produced more fluidly than other, but that's the magic of composing. Jazz and Deep House have had a huge influence on my way of thinking and this can be heard very quickly in the compositions. The presence of wind instruments is essential to support this "Jazz Touch". The help of my girlfriend as a vocalist on two of the four tracks was also an important component. I am a nostalgic person by nature and therefore a lover of old school sounds, I would like to share this universe with as many people as possible. When I create, I want to feel good and be able to spread that same feeling to the audience, while trying to generate curiosity for less consensual music.

- Could you share with us three tracks that inspired you during the making of the record?

The influences are numerous, I could quote various artists who inspired me but because of limitation of choice, I will mention three pieces which had enormous importance for me. Linkwood Family - Milles Away: This piece represents perfection to me, the harmony that emerges around the composition is incredible. Milles Away is bewitching and transports me with each listening: it is this type of feeling that I try to share throughout my tracks. Black Man - Belladonna: This track is the perfect lounge track for me, a dynamic beat that is catchy while remaining measured. I tried to create a sound similar to this by adding some higher kicks. Delano Smith - Road to Nowhere: The choice of the third track (and the artist) was very complicated but it was impossible for me not to mention Delano Smith, so much he inspires me by his capacity to propose qualitative and simple tracks at the same time. Road to Nowhere is a new proof of his creative genius, the pad used in this track particularly pleasing me.
