Simon & Garfunkel
Only Living Boy in New York

We had several creative touchstones for our record and Simon and Garfunkel is one of them. This one is warm and comforting and perhaps a little less known than the classics. Particularly adore the heavenly harmonies at the end of the tune.

Peter Gabriel
Don't Give Up

Peter G and Kate Bush were both on repeat while were writing and recording and they both appear on this beautiful song. It really resonates with what a lot of us are going through at the moment, but offers hope as well.

Sufjan Stevens
4th of July

Devastating song. One of the best to come out in recent years. We both were dealing with grief and loss during the process of writing Unyazi and this song loomed large over proceedings. The way the refrain is so sorrowful ,but life affirming at the same time is just brilliant.

The Beatles
Julia

Insanely complex, yet childlike and simple sounding. Peak John Lennon and a splendid Beatles song to discover that not everybody is familiar with.

Fiona Apple
Sleep to Dream

Unreal soulful and emotional vocals from a young Fiona and gorgeously warm production that brings to mind a hint of 90's trip hop.

Leonard Cohen
Famous Blue Raincoat

We listened to a whole lot of Leonard and also read books of his poetry and interviews for direction and inspiration. Wish there were more like him around. This song is stark and bleak and unwaveringly honest.
