Dabit Records returns with its fourth release this July, in the shape of ‘Natural Message’ by Kisk, backed with a remix from Sarp Yilmaz.
The Dabit Records imprint was launched out of Milan in 2013, and although only onto its fourth release, has already put out a single from unsung underground hero Alex Agore. Picking up support along the way from the likes of DJ Sneak, Washerman, Diz and Norm Talley, an indication of the label’s attentive A&R approach and quality control. Here the label welcomes Giuseppe D’Alessandro aka Kisk onto its roster, Giuseppe is the owner of the Apparel Music label and here he showcased his infectious Jazz inflected house and techno style.
The release opens with the original version of title track ‘Natural Message’, kicking off in an ethereal state with moody string melodies, weighty drums and a bubbling atmosphere. Things take off just after the two-minute mark with jazzy, natural bass licks, organic sax hits and spoken word vocal murmurs, resulting in a classy, understated house record.
Turkish producer Sarp Yilmaz steps up to rework ‘Natural Message’ to close the release, Yilmaz brings the cosseting bass tones to the forefront, while swirling, psychedelic synth pads, penetrative sub-bass and bright strings drive the melodic movement. The latter stages introduce additional electric piano melodies; the end result is a delicately intricate house workout that packs a punch.

both tracks, super dope ! real winner!
Saturday Session (Ministry Of Sound)
Cool release. Will try out both tracks. Thanks 8/10
DMC World
A nice bit of bumping and filtered house, built around the main string riff from MFSB’s Love Is The Message, which went on to become the main hook in The Salsoul Orchestra’s Ooh I Love It. Sarp Yilmaz delivers a stripped back mix that builds on a pumping bassline and jazzy key flourishes.

Top weird chuggy stuff in the Sarp Yilmaz mix then then build to that piano break. Top Love Is The Message samples too – really enjoyed this.

Score: 8.5/10 – Milan’s Dabit Records hits its fourth release with a sublime revisiting of one of modern dance music’s earliest classics – MFSB’s ‘Love Is The Message’. Originally the beautifully euphoric anthem of New York’s seminal mid-1970s clubs, the song was originally forged in the mid-1970s Philly Soul furness, mixed by the mighty Tom Moulton.
It has since been subjected to innumerable mixes, edits and hip hop versions, usually homing in on the later-stage groove section. Apparel honcho Guiseppe D’Alessandro [aka Kisk] provides a rare contemporary homage to the kind of classic in danger of being forgotten, using the original keening string line and resonating bass as hotwired in Danny Krivitt’s 90s edit. He adds shadowy voices and jazzy flourishes to create a modern space-jazz disco gem.
Turkish producer Sarp Yilmaz then boosts the string bass, adding shimmering keyboards and finger-clicking bottom end lope to create a bottomless atmosphere of malevolent, stalking darkness. Superlative tackle all round.
