Apparel Radio show #207: Delfonic
We’re back with a new episode of Apparel Radio Show which needs a brief intro even if the man behind it, Delfonic, wouldn’t need any. He’d put together a 3hrs tribute mix to the master Glenn Underground. It contains gems from the Southside Chicago native visionary producer, as an ideal thanksgiving to him for “saving his musical life”, restoring his faith and passion for every aspect of music, after a difficult period he had. We’d like to thank Delfonic for sharing this truly meaningful selection with us, and we’re delighted to be the chosen platform to spread this message of love and hope. After all this is what is all about: sharing love for the music, our passion, which can make us suffer at times but, only from it, the answer will come. Vielen Dank Markus!

“Southern Soul Festial End of June 2018 in Montenegro:
I was lucky enough to be part again of this amazing festival at the sea side of Montenegro in the summer time.
At this time I was quite tired about djing and music at all. too many exhausting dj gigs, new releases weren´t that exciting and so on…
I brought my man DJ Gene to the festival and we were enjoying all the amazing djs and live acts (too many to mention). The music was beautiful and the sunny weather at the beach lifted us to another good level.
One night Glenn Underground was playing a set at the Cosmic Stage and I was not really into dancing at this time.
GU made a change over break after Mark Crusade (dope set as well). We were waiting until GU was on and it was a little bit annoying how long it took to change over from dj to dj.
But then it happened. He played straight over 2 1/2 hours a soulful house set without big breaks and catchy gimmicks or tools. Just great soulful music. I started to dance and I remember Tama Sumo was also dancing next to me all the time and we were also smiling the whole time…
Beautiful people were grooving and it was just perfect. This set and the music saved my music life at this moment and I started to believe again in what I´m doing – listening to music, digging for music and playing music for people.
Big up to GU for giving me this positive feeling back.
This mix is just a little excursion of his amazing production work. I think he is one of the best deep house producers of all time.
For this mix I just put in one track, which is not from his catalogue, but I remember exactly the moment, when he dropped this one and I was touched deep in my heart! Fun fact: the label manager who released this track by Peven Everett „Burning Hot / Timmy Regisford & Adam Rios RMX“ was also attending the festival and was carrying an OYE tote bag all the time.
I made this tribute mix to keep this feeling alive I had at this festival and I hope you enjoy the music as I do and always will….
thx for listening and dancing and dreaming!”
