APPAREL REVIEW:

Age of Rage
Credo Tracks Vol. 1
[Sole Aspect]

Sole Aspect comes up with the goods bringing out the third release of its young catalogue and we, who never miss the opportunity to talk a little bit about good music, have listened to it and this is what we think.

The duo Age Of Rage, in their record called ‘Credo Tracks Vol.1 EP’ want to make us understand -right from the title- that this is their statement on the subject Deep House, one of the most difficult genres to try your hand on, due to its apparent simplicity, behind which lies a great work of music production. Their point of view -their ‘Credo’ (from the Latin verb credĕre which means believing)- is as instinctive as direct and immediately displays the characteristics we seek when listening to this genre: attention to detail, the detailed search for the right sounds and a will to create the right groove, the right rhythm, which is the starting point to build a good track. Dubbyman & Dan Piu, the pair behind the ‘Age Of Rage’ project, therefore dabble in the creation of four different but complementary variations of the same theme. The opening track 'Open To Close' represents the meeker soul, with an atmospheric/airy vibe and a solid rhythm section that leaves room for ethereal pads and iridescent harmonies. 'Open To Close Dub' is its twin sister with a more impulsive, passionate character, while 'Fake Action', with its melodic virtuosity glued to a soft and -at the same time- charismatic bass-line, make it undoubtedly the most sinuous track of the entire album. The finale is assigned to ‘Lover' that, with its pulsating kick-drum, a soft but splendid sax and its vibrant and elegant energy, is a stunning style-exercise that makes the record complete. The EP, Mastered by Dietrich Schoenemann at Complete Mastering, is also available on vinyl and we absolutely recommend it.
