Olivier Verhaeghe - Sometimes

I stumbled across this (almost) illegally soulful house track from Olivier Verhaeghe while walking home, released on the consistently awesome Basement Discos imprint. Sampling the iconic Supreme Jubilee song from 1979, it’s hard not to get moved by this gorgeous track.

Kolter - Be Real

By now a seasoned dancefloor classic, I rediscovered this absolute heater while searching through my hard drive this week, and wow. Those vocals, strings, and synth combo over those Kolter drums really do some things to my soul.

Qubiko - Disco Connection

Another recent find, this track made me realise how much of a soft spot I have for flute house (thanks St Germain).  As soon as those vocals came in for the first time, I knew I was in for a funk-filled journey driven by those groovy-as-hell hand-clap drums.

Tiger and Woods - License to Vibe

Bandcamp can throw some gems your way on its day. Fortunately, this week was full of them. One of these happened to this newly released weapon from Tiger and Woods, kicking off with a filthy FM-tinged bassline so you know it’s an absolute tune from the start.

NRMNT, STRNGE, M1NT - Coastline Cruise

There’s something about some laid-back jazzy Rhodes chord stabs to start a chilled house track that just hits different. As you can guess, the first notes of this banger are exactly that. And when the brass comes in? Damn, exactly what the doctor ordered.

Le Hutin - Brian’s Classico

There are few more iconic duos that I can name than piano and house music, and Brian’s Classico is a reminder of why that harmonious partnership works so bloody well. Straight from the oven of Le Hutin into the new label Basics Recordings, do yourself a favour and give this heater a spin.
